Let’s face it – most of us have tried to lose weight before a big event at some point in our lives. Between juice cleanses, gluten-free/dairy-free detoxes, and the ‘bone broth only’ diet, things can get pretty chaotic.

Here at Carine’s Bridal Atelier, we believe that in order to look and feel your best, you have to take care of yourself on the inside and out. What you put into your body not only affects how you look, but can also impact things such as your energy levels and metabolism. And while it can be tempting to try a crash diet, the best way to do this is lead a consistently healthy lifestyle.

One of our favorite places to go when we want something healthy – and yummy – is South Block Juice Co. Located on Grace Street in Georgetown, South Block Juice Co. has an amazing selection of healthy foods such as açai bowls, pressed juices, smoothies and snacks.  Need some help deciding? Below are some of our favorite items:

                      juice

PB & J Açai Bowl: This smoothie bowl is an incredible blend of açai, peanut butter, bananas, blueberries, and almond milk topped with granola, blueberries and bananas. For extra protein to keep us full, we like to add hemp hearts and a scoop of plant protein powder.

Super Green Smoothie: On the days where we need to eat some greens but don’t feel like ordering a salad, we usually opt for the super green smoothie. It’s made with pineapple juice, kale, spinach, mangos and bananas. The fruit cuts through the taste of the spinach and kale, so even though it looks green, it tastes just like a tropical drink.

Avocado Toast: A classic, but one that is exceptionally good at South Block Co. Something we love to do is add bee pollen on top – it might sound weird, but it compliments the avocado and is great for added nutrition.

We just returned from NYC where we spent the last five days at New York Bridal Fashion Week. The new collections for 2017 are stunning and we can’t wait to get the designs in our store.

In the meantime, we’ll just have to flip through the hundreds of photos we took and admire all the beauty. There were quite a few trends that stood out, starting with tiny, 3D floral appliqués.   Photo Apr 18, 11 47 26 AM Photo Apr 18, 11 36 23 AMPhoto Apr 17, 1 52 31 PMIMG_0759

Fully beaded sheaths was another trend we saw. The details on these dresses are just gorgeous!

And blush is a trend that’s not going away. The color appeared in every collection we saw. However, something new this year was pantsuits.

This month’s featured vendor is Soco Events and as we mentioned in our newsletter, we absolutely love working with Jennifer Stiebel and her team! Over the years we have worked with Soco Events on many different weddings and each time they never cease to amaze us with their creativity and attention to detail. Truly fantastic wedding planning! Today we want to feature one of our favorite weddings that we’ve done with Soco Events. It took place at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the bride wore a custom Liancarlo gown and Monique Lhuillier skirt…

Our January bridal spotlight goes to Lauren and her husband Jonathan. Lauren wore a stunning Monique Lhuillier gown and we featured her and her husband’s love story on our newsletter a few weeks ago. They are such a sweet couple and we loved all of the pictures from their special day. Take a peak below into their downtown wedding this past June!
